Code-minimum layout: devices are placed only where NFPA 72 / IBC 907 require them for this occupancy. Smoke detection is NOT installed throughout — only in MEP, IT, elevator lobbies, and stair tops. Notification appliances cover common-use spaces with strobe-only units in small rooms and restrooms per ADA.

Building class (IBC use group) Drives H/S density, FACP/ANN placement chain, and per-room device kits. Sprinklered building? Sprinklered → smoke detectors only at FACP host + MEP elec/mech/IT (IBC §903.3.1 trade-off). Non-sprinklered → adds storage HD, stair-top SD, elev-lobby SD. High-rise (> 75 ft)? High-rise (IBC §403, occupied floor >75 ft) adds emergency voice/ECS, annunciation, and ERRCS. Auto reads the building height off the title sheet — override here if it's missed.

Auto-corrections

Layer-1 rules engine ran the model's output against IBC §907 / NFPA 72 room-label exclusions. Each entry below is a deterministic adjustment — the underlying device markup has already been updated.

Off-plan drops

Devices the model placed outside the floor-plan area on a page — usually in the titleblock, general-notes column, or sheet margin. Each entry below was removed before render. The filter uses the bounding box of all room labels (with 10% padding) to decide what counts as "on the plan".

Text-layer snap

Centroid-style devices (smoke, heat, strobe, speaker, horn-strobe) had their coordinates snapped from the model's predicted location to the actual room-label position read from the PDF text layer. Wall-mount devices (pull stations) are not snapped — they need the wall geometry pass.

OCR fallback

Pages whose PDF text layer was stripped to vector outlines (AutoCAD's "Plot to PDF with TrueType-as-Geometry") had their room labels recovered by a vision OCR pass. The injected labels feed back into the symbolic placement pipeline as if they had been in the text layer.

Extracted from this plan set's abbreviations / symbols / general-notes sheets in a pre-pass before device placement. The model uses this to decode room labels and identify wall line-types for the rest of the run.
